Asahiyama Zoo is located in the wonderful city of Asahikawa in the beautiful Hokkaido region of Japan. It's the northernmost zoo in Japan and has become the most visited zoo in Japan—what an amazing achievement! Who said that most of the animals in the zoo are closed to visitors in winter? They're actually hibernating!
A visit to the Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido on a snowy day is an absolute delight! You'll see adorable penguins strolling through the snow, mischievous little raccoons scurrying about, curious seals going up and down the glass columns, and monkeys clinging to each other for warmth. The zoo's top priority is to ensure the animals are kept in a relatively free state, and through clever displays, visitors can observe the animals up close.
We're so excited to announce the launch of Goose Walk! It will be available from December to March, with a start date to be announced soon. Watch penguins take a walk with us!
[13:20] biei
Hokkaido internet celebrity Christmas tree (approx.15minute)
The Yule tree is a magnificent spruce tree on a gentle hillside in Biei Town, southeast of Asahikawa City. As for the origin of the name, there are various fascinating theories, such as the shape of the tree resembles a Christmas tree, or the tip of the tree represents stars. In short, the name is related to the undecorated Christmas tree. Regardless of the four seasons, it's a beautiful day and night. This Christmas tree is one of the most popular trees in Biei!
Because there is no guide board, it is a bit tricky to find this place, but it's well worth the effort! There are often lots of tourists visiting here to take photos, so be sure to be respectful of private property.
Farmer Tian:
Let's follow [tourist etiquette] together and visit the amazing town of Hillside Biei!
The pastoral scenery of Biei is a truly unique landscape, created by farmers who cultivate delicious crops.
However, in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of tourists who have inadvertently stepped into farmland in order to take pictures of beautiful scenery. This move not only harms the crops, but also tramples on the fruits of farmers' hard work and sweat! So, let's all do our part to protect the original beauty of the countryside by following these simple tourist etiquette tips!
When taking photos, please "step back" and stand on the asphalt road to capture the view. This way, you can capture the gorgeous blue sky, white clouds, and fields in your frame!
When you see tourists entering the farmland to take pictures, be sure to speak up and kindly remind them to step back onto the road. "Hey there! Just a quick heads-up: please don't go into the farmland."
[14:10] biei
Biei Aoike (about 30 minutes)
You'll find this incredible spot on the left bank of the Biei River in Hokkaido. It was formed by a dam built to intercept volcanic magma, creating a truly unique and awe-inspiring landscape. And when the sun shines on the water in the pool, it reflects a beautiful blue hue, which is how it got its name! The incredible Aoike was once photographed by none other than National Geographic photographer Kent Shiraishi! The work was later acquired by none other than Apple, and it became one of the default desktop images for the MAC series! The water of Qingchi is absolutely amazing! It contains rich minerals and sandy components in volcanic ash. Under the sun, Qingchi puts on a spectacular show, with colors changing subtly with the environment. You never know what he'll show you next! It's always a surprise, which makes people full of excitement.
[14:50] Furano
Shirasu Falls(about 20 minutes)
The Shirakane Falls in Furano, Hokkaido, has a drop of 30 meters and an altitude of 600 meters. It is located in the Shirogane Hot Spring Village of Biei Town. It is named "Shiratsu Falls" because of the white beard-like water pouring down from the cracks in the rocks. The water gushing from the ground beat against the rocks and stirred up blue waves. Here you can enjoy beautiful mountains and clear waters in summer and white snow in winter. You can enjoy the sharp contrast between the two seasons.
