Unlike the Great Buddha of Nara Todaiji Temple, which has undergone many repairs in later generations, the Great Buddha of Kamakura has maintained its original form, making it extremely valuable.
Minamoto Yoritomo established the first samurai regime in Kamakura - the Kamakura Shogunate (1192-1333). In 140 years, Kamakura, as the center of Japan at that time, experienced tremendous development in politics, economy, culture, and other aspects. During the Edo period, with the revival of shrines and temples, Kamakura gradually became a popular tourist destination in Japan (Please pay for your own tickets: 300 yen and inside the Great Buddha 50 yen).

As for the original formation of Enoshima, it is said that in April of the 13th year of Emperor Chinmei's reign (552), sand began to gush out from the bottom of the sea and after 21 days, a sandy island was formed. During the Edo period, it became a popular sightseeing spot for people from Edo (now Tokyo). It has also been a venue for Kabuki actors.
Eshima Shrine
Eshima Shrine was established by Emperor Kinmei in 552 years. The annual sacrifice takes place in early April. The colorful wooden Eight-Armed Bensaiten Seated Statue in the shrine, the Hizen Kuni Fujiwara Masahiro Sword, the Octagonal Gazing Turtle, the Origin of Eshima, and the Bronze Torii Gate are all nationally designated cultural treasures. Thank you for such a great tour. It was a great chance to explore places we wouldn’t ordinarily see along with knowing all of the logistics would be taken care of. Tourists can explore the locations with freedom to roam, explore and to look at the things that most interest them. I would recommend this to anyone and especially solo travellers. Thank you again!
Enjoyed a beautiful day in Kamakura. Visited the Inari Jinja shrine, a hike thru a woodsy area with amazing views of Yuigahama Beach, the Great Buddha, and Hasedera Temple. Enjoyed a Japanese style lunch at Hasedera Temple and street food on Komanchi street. Tour guide is a great guide. Very knowledgeable, with a great personality. The other party cancelled, so this became a private tour for us. A great start to our time in Japan! Would highly recommend this tour.
Great friendly safe driver! Knowledgeble about local attractions amd alternatives! Great english! Had free water bottles and lent an umbrella.
Seeing the great Budha & experiencing the local culture. We enjoyed the view from the restaurant at the shrine as well seeing beach & sailboats.
Captivated by the beauty of Enoshima! Our tourguides were caring and attentive. I had such a great time and the amount of time they gave us to explore on our own was great and appreciated. Highly recommend if you want to step away from the city life. This tour allowed me to take in different scenery and breathe in fresh air. Thank you ladies!
The amount. of sights we have seen this is far the best value for money. The bus was clean and comfortable. Our driver was a very safe driver and our guide spoke easy to understand English plus the sights were amazing.

Great one day trip to get away from busy Tokyo! Especially if you don’t have enough time to travel to Kyoto during your visit.
The tour was really great, we had an amazing day. Try different food, walk to different temples and shrines and even took a local train
We came in from Tokyo for the day to see Kamakura and loved it. Fuji did a great job showing us the town and temples / shrines. The hike was a lot of fun too. We really enjoyed our time with Ken and recommend the tour.
